Guitar Workshop with Brooks Williams -2/12/12 3pm-5pm

SIX TRICKS OF THE TRADE ~ RIFFS, RHYTHMS and CHORDS

Six Tricks of the Trade is a workshop that explores six riffs, rhythms and alternate chord shapes that will enrich, enliven and expand your guitar skills.

We will look at each technique in the context of how they are used in a song and then explore how each technique might be applied to other songs and the participants own music. This will be a fun, hand’s-on workshop with lots of playing, jamming, and singing.

This Workshop is ideally suited for guitarists who know how to play the basic chords (e.g. A, D, E, G, C, F, B7, Am, Em, Dm).

Teresa Storch -Open Mic Feature 12/1/11 7pm

Funky and soulful folk/rock songs, mesmerizing jazz infused vocals and bounding folk/rock sound...all great descriptions of Teresa's talent...but I have to admit that it was what one of her fans said about her that really intrigued me. He said,
"She could be the love child of Joni Mitchell and Dave Matthews." - Brian Kelly (fan)

Teresa Storch grew up in Omaha, NE and now hails from Colorado where she went to college and first got hooked on the live music scene. It was there that Teresa began writing and performing her own music. She traversed the country in 1999 and landed in the Northeast, where she spent 7 years in the Boston music scene. She's been touring nationally since 2003, covering 35 states in 7 years.

Teresa's in the process of recording her third cd, "The Honesty Kitchen." About her music Teresa says, "My music comes from a desire to connect with others and to keep growing as a human being :)"

And connect she does. She enjoys adventuring into what makes the audience sit up and listen.

Open Mic Info:
Admission  $3 per person donation at the door
Show starts at 7pm

Abby Vail -Open Mic Feature 11/17/11

Open Mic Details:
Show starts at 7pm
(Performer sign-up is at 6:30)
Admission $3 per person

November 17th will feature the delightful music of seventeen-year-old singer/songwriter, Abby Vail.

Abby says her life revolves around music, whether it be writing it , performing it, listening to it or even dancing to it.. Her Dad's in the music business and so music became an integral part of her life from a young age. Abby plays guitar and uke.

Listening to The Beatles, The Allman Brothers, Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd among others, inspired her to start writing her own music about three years ago.

Abby says, "The inspiration for my music is drawn from my own experiences and so far I have written and recorded two CDs. I've been coming to Rick's Open Mic for about a year and loved every minute of it. Nothing brings me more happiness than music."

We're happy that she's been gracing our Open Mic stage and we're excited to host her first ever Open Mic Feature. Good Luck, Abby!
