Chuck Durang -Feb 18 Open Mic Feature with Dick Custer

Chuck Durang says he has been commiting folk music since just after the invention of the guitar.

He is "one of the founders of Chicago's Old Town entertainment area," as leader of the Small World Singers, and has been the prime mover in a number of other groups including The Sundowners, Just Four, Harmony Gritz, and The Visitors. He organized the 1963 Midwest Folk Festival, and produced an Army Special Services touring show, This Land Is Your Land.

His vocals are enhanced by virtuoso execution on the six- and twelve-string guitar and five-string banjo, goofy and/or informative song introductions and other tall tales, and a selection of tunes both familiar and new to any given audience.

Chuck will be aided and abetted by the talents of Dick Custer on the mandolin, dobro and perhaps other instruments.

Thursday - Feb 18, 2010

Brooks Williams CD Release Party 2/12/10

Brooks Williams is one of my FAVORITE performers.
He always launches our audience onto their feet. It’s no wonder. He’s one of the most entertaining and engaging performers on the international circuit today. Brooks’ guitar skills won him a place on the Top 100 Acoustic Guitarists list.
You can imagine my excitement when Brooks asked me to host his CD Release Party to launch his brand new CD, Baby O! What an honor!

We expect a full house and seats are limited. Get your ticket today for what promises to be a fabulous show and share the honor of being among the first Brooks fans in the world to get your hands on Baby O!
This is a great opportunity for our students to witness a world-class performer up close and personal.
More about Brooks

Brooks Williams is a blues singing, guitar picking, bottleneck slide playing certified road warrior who has toured continuously for over twenty-one years. His guitar skills won him a place on the Top 100 Acoustic Guitarists list, in company with the likes of Michael Hedges, Chet Atkins, Leo Kottke, Doc Watson, and David Bromberg, to name a few.

“His slide, finger-picking and lead work is excellent..." (fRoots)
“...vital, bright-eyed and bright-fingered...” (Net Rhythms)

As one of the world’s premier acoustic guitarists and singers, Brooks Williams continues to tour worldwide, every night delivering the deepest and most intense interpretations of everything from early blues songs to his recent original compositions.

He is quite simply one of the most entertaining and engaging performers on the circuit today. From coast-to-coast, country-to-country, Williams and his guitars roll and tumble like nobody’s business.
